Sophomores Advancing in Leadership
EVENTS
Retreats are a huge part of SAIL! They give our sophomores time to have fun, bond, and work on leadership skills. There are three retreats during a sophomore's time in SAIL: one in the fall semester when our sophomores first get in to SAIL, one at the beginning of the spring semester, and one at the end of the spring semester. The first two retreats are planned by the directors, but the sophomores in the Style committee have the opportunity to plan the End of the Year Retreat.
ETIQUETTE DINNER
Etiquette Dinner is an event planned by the Style committee! It takes the place of one of our Monday night general meetings. Food is catered from Olive Garden, sophomores are required to dress business casual, and the SHIP committee gives a presentation over proper dinner etiquette to prepare our sophomores for any important meals they may be having in the future! Presenting yourself in a professional manner is an important part of being an effective leader and Etiquette Dinner allows us as an organization to practice this skill.
The Monday night before Thanksgiving, SAIL comes together to have a potluck dinner and celebrate this holiday as a "family." The Style committee facilitates this event and every sophomore brings their favorite Thanksgiving food item to share with the organization. It is the perfect time to reflect on the fall semester of SAIL before finals start and everyone leaves for winter break.
SHIPWRECKED
Shipwrecked is SAIL's fall leadership conference. This event is planned by the leader"SHIP" committee focused on the development of our sophomores' leadership skills and includes multiple guest speakers, team-building activities, and opportunities for the sophomores to grow socially during their first semester in SAIL.
